Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping)

Overview

Streamlined by Gary Craig in the 1990s, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or Tapping) blends the cognitive benefits of therapy with the physical benefits of acupressure to resolve physical, mental, and emotional issues. This technique is used to restore balance to disrupted energy systems and can treat a vast variety of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, physical pain, emotional eating, and insomnia. Tapping is a self-empowering tool that helps you access your body’s energy and send signals to the part of the brain that controls your stress response. When new neuropathways are formed, positive changes are possible. My Holistic EFT Practice includes the following philosophy: Holistically, genuine therapy involves assisting clients to access the truth that already resides within themselves. This empowers clients, putting them in touch with their strengths and allowing them to gently release the limitations that are preventing them from living life fully. Complementary Therapy is a natural, non-invasive modality to help bolster your own ability to heal and should not replace urgent or essential medical treatment.

Benefits of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT):

Reduces Anxiety and Stress
EFT tapping has been shown to significantly decrease anxiety symptoms, with 90% of participants experiencing improvement compared to 63% using traditional cognitive behavioral therapy. It also helps regulate the nervous system and calm the mind by reconstructing neural circuits responsible for negative thoughts and emotions.
Eases Depression
Multiple studies have found EFT to be highly effective in reducing depressive symptoms, with some research indicating it may be more effective than antidepressant drugs or psychotherapy. EFT helps release negative emotions, which can lift mood and improve overall mental well-being.
Decreases Pain
EFT has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing various types of pain, including fibromyalgia, tension headaches, and frozen shoulder. It may work by giving the mind something else to focus on and potentially altering pain perception in the brain.
